The Scenario Group

C-level executives are accustomed to roles which make them the center of attention at the events in which they participate.  Programs in which they are asked to sit passively and listen to speeches are historically of low interest to them, even if they offer high-level speakers.  Further, c-level executives are experts themselves, with a great deal to offer audiences.

Consequently, in light of these facts, C-Level Solutions specializes in building events around live, interactive scenario exercises, high-level gaming situations in which all participants are speakers and everyone works together to explore alternative futures.  These dynamic, fast-paced, moderated sessions employ the use of proprietary wireless polling technology which enables all participants to actively but anonymously express their views on a wide range of salient issues throughout each event.  These polling tools turn each program into a live focus group in which the data, presented instantly and in full-color, highly graphic results, is often a work product participants wish to take with them and share with their own boards.

C-Level Solutions works with clients carefully to identify the scenario or war-gaming focus that makes the most sense for them, then builds background materials that give the programs a unique and powerful substantive basis.  These materials provide a set of assumptions that are a jumping-off point for the scenario exercise.  In each scenario exercise the first step is to identify those "drivers" that are the forces that will most significantly shape each alternative future.  Next, the discussions, which draw in both outside experts and the participating c-level executives, focus on understanding what the audience sees as the most-likely best and worst case scenarios and as the overall most-likely scenario.  Then, audiences will identify "red flags" or those possible incidents that should be indicators that events are trending in one direction or another.  Finally, audience members will be encouraged to identify "tripwires" or those incidents which they feel should lead them to take some specific action relative to their businesses.

Scenarios can be quite formal and produce very useful strategic planning or team building results or they can be quite informal and be used to trigger discussion around a set of questions, polling data derived from the participants or other issue.  The specific approach taken is based on an extensive interview with the clients in question and then a detailed proposal regarding the nature of the session is provided.  Often scenarios will also result in the production of a report, including all the polling results and analysis from experts and other participants who were at the meeting.  The scenario approach also opens the door to later follow-on publications as the scenarios unfold and past conclusions can be revisited.
